What we invest in

We see the grants we offer as investments, not donations. The organisations we support are the experts in their communities and causes — we cannot do their work, and we don’t dictate how they should use the investment. Our role is to provide flexible support that enables them to deliver today and build for tomorrow.

We look for organisations that are impactful and committed to investing in their own resilience.

Relief, Change, and Strength: building sustainable impact

Charities take different approaches to making a difference. Some are rooted in Relief — meeting immediate needs and supporting people in crisis. Others focus on Change — addressing the root causes of those needs, through advocacy, prevention, or systemic influence. Many combine elements of both.

There is no single “right” focus. Relief and Change are both vital, and each charity finds its own balance.

But whichever path an organisation takes, one dimension matters for everyone — Strength.

Why Strength matters

Strength is the foundation that makes Relief and Change possible — and sustainable. It’s about more than compliance. Strength means:

  • Good governance that provides oversight and direction.
  • Financial resilience through diverse and sustainable income.
  • People and culture that attract, support, and retain staff and volunteers.
  • Operational effectiveness that ensures services run smoothly and adapt when circumstances change.
  • Data and learning to understand impact and improve practice.
  • Visibility and communication so that others know, trust, and support the work.

Without Strength, even the most urgent Relief or ambitious Change work risks faltering.

What we look for

We are interested in supporting organisations that:

  • Deliver impactful services today (Relief), and/or contribute to long-term solutions (Change).
  • Show evidence of organisational Strength, or have a clear commitment to build it.
  • Demonstrate a capacity and desire to invest in their own sustainability, not just in short-term activity.

We believe this is the combination that leads to lasting impact: strong organisations, delivering meaningful change for the people and communities they serve.
